We got to the hotel early and were given our room before check-in, with an offer of coffee, tea, or water. They also let us check out later at no extra cost. The rooms were clean and big enough, and breakfast was very good. But the people made the stay: everyone, from reception to the breakfast staff, was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Set in a historic building in West Berlin, this hotel has plenty of character and a great location. Our room was spotless, and the staff were outstanding, welcoming, and always ready to help. I’d definitely recommend it if you want a comfortable stay with some charm.

The room was the best part: very comfortable, clean, and simple, with both a heater and a fan. The shower was nicely modern, though the toilet had an old-fashioned style. Staff were friendly, and the location was handy, about 5-10 minutes from a large train station, restaurants, and shopping streets. The first impression was less appealing, since the long stairway creaked and made the place seem really old.

The hotel offers early check-in, which was really useful, and the friendly staff and location near the centre and an upscale shopping area were positives. The small room and dated bathroom were as shown before booking, so no surprises there. The building is undergoing major refurbishment, though, and construction starts very early in the morning. A decent budget choice if that works for you.
