The capsule idea is pretty cool, and the pods have enough room, charging cables, a mirror, and space for small items. But the plastic walls are thin, so every movement in the hostel carries through. Light sleepers will struggle. At first the entrance was hard to find: there was just a small sign inside a random building pointing upstairs. The reception is open 24 hours, and clean towels are always available. Lockers are quite small, enough for a backpack or slim suitcase. The bathrooms look new and come with shower gel, shampoo, and hair dryers, but they have a strange smell despite looking clean. I wished they'd used bleach. Some taps are temperamental too: the sensor stops after two seconds, then takes a minute to start again. The showers switch off automatically, so you have to keep pressing the button, though it's fine once you get used to it.
The location is right in the heart of the city, with the sights an easy walk away if, like me, you enjoy exploring on foot. It was a little hard to spot at first, but the place is inside the Lidl building, up the stairs. I’d absolutely stay again if I’m back in Berlin. For solo travellers, it’s bang on the money. The staff greeted me warmly and showed me how the capsule and lockers worked in under 30 seconds, and they’re around if you need anything. The lockers are secure, and everything worked well. I liked the beds and the pods felt cool and cozy, though I can sleep anywhere. It was a relaxed, quiet place and I had no trouble sleeping. There was the odd snore, bit of sleep talking, or someone shifting about, but nothing too bad. The other guests seemed considerate. The bathrooms were much better than I expected, with separate toilet and shower rooms that have everything you need to get washed and ready on your own. I left some Lynx shower gel there, so feel free to use it if you find it. They leave lost property in the bathroom hall.
I stayed five nights. It was the cheapest capsule hostel I found in central Berlin, and I slept well. The locker was good, the bathrooms were clean, and each stall has its own toilet, sink, and shower. That setup was convenient, and the shower worked well. There was a pile of clean towels in the lobby, so you could swap yours whenever you wanted. The plastic capsules were the most awkward I've stayed in, and as others have mentioned, they don't block much noise. The thin mattress didn't support me well and gradually lost its shape. To the hostel's credit, I saw them replacing mattresses when a capsule was empty. I was just after a place to sleep, so the blue lights and space graphics didn't do much for me. There's a kettle and fridge in the luggage room, of all places, and a small common area with a couple of vending machines. Lidl and the park next door had cheap food and were much nicer places to eat. It's okay.
Had a blast during my one night here. The staff were really friendly, the capsules were clean, and I loved the setup with the toilet and shower together. Hey Guido, lots of love!
The staff were really helpful, and there’s plenty of room, so it works well for solo travelers or anyone backpacking on a budget. The walls are thin, though, and you can hear other guests. It also gets stuffy, so stronger AC would help.
