I booked this hotel because it was the only one nearby for my embassy appointment, and I didn’t expect much. The rooms turned out to be surprisingly modern and beautiful, and my room was superb. Staff were really friendly too. Breakfast was average, just the essentials. I’d give it a 6.5/10. If you’re not picky, it’s fine. I can’t complain, since they may not get much traffic. It was a beautiful experience.

St.-Michaels-Heim Jugendgästehaus & Hotel – Berlin sits in a quiet, green part of Berlin. The historic building has lovely gardens around it, giving the place a calm feel away from the busy center. The rooms are clean and comfortable, suitable for young travelers and families. Staff are friendly and helpful, and public transport connections are good. With nature all around, it’s a welcoming, simple place for visitors looking for comfort and a peaceful stay.

St Michaels Heim is in a beautiful setting, and everything was very clean. Reception is open 24 hours, the staff were very helpful, and it was brilliant value for money. The center takes a little longer to reach, but it’s straightforward from the S Bahn stations Grunewald or Halensee, by regular bus or on foot. The only small downside was the Wi-Fi charge. I think it was about €1.50 for 24 hours, with a few euros for a longer pass. Given how good the room prices were, it wasn’t really an issue. Definitely recommended.

The staff were friendly and helpful. It works well as a hostel, especially for young people, though even single rooms use shared bathrooms. The WC is quite a long way from the single rooms.

The breakfast was really good, and the staff were kind and helpful. We stayed six nights and had no major complaints, though towels were lacking and corridor noise carried into the room. The location is excellent for the price, with plenty to see in Grunewald. I'd stay again.
