Absolutely awful hostel. The staff are criminals.

The place was a disaster. They advertised freshly made beds, but the sheets were rumpled and had hair on them. Our room carpet was stained, the trash was still there, and the sink was filthy and dusty. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The first floor smelled strongly of old frying oil. The building was old and shabby, which I could have accepted. The bathroom hygiene was the worst part. Beer bottles had been left in the men’s restroom for days, with clothes and towels on the floor. There were no shower curtains, the showers wouldn’t drain, toilet paper was rationed, and there was no soap. The toilet floors were so dirty they seemed not to have been mopped for months. The breakfast buffet was meager, and the bread was moldy. To echo another guest, if all you need is a roof, you’d be better off sleeping on the subway. It’s sad to see such a beautiful house allowed to deteriorate like this. If I were the owner, I’d be ashamed.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. There are better motels and hostels in central Berlin, including B&B and 24h Motel. I reserved an economy double for €56 and got confirmation by email, but personal circumstances meant I couldn’t use it during the planned arrival period. I canceled by phone. The manager said he couldn’t find me in their system and might get in touch about possible fees, without saying when or where I’d need to pay them. Now a lawyer’s letter has arrived demanding 200% of the claim’s value. The service has been terrible, and the whole thing seems poorly organized. It feels like this is how they make their money. If you don’t have a good, expensive lawyer, I’d suggest finding a different hostel with flexible booking and cancellation options.

It’s hard to imagine a dirtier, more disgusting place. Absolutely not recommended unless you’re trying to punish an enemy.
