Altes Forsthaus

The setting is beautiful and makes a great base for excursions. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay in August 2025, and our boys, 8 and 5, had a great time too. We’d love to come back.

There are lovely ways to unwind here: the grounds, playground, and swimming lake are all great for relaxing, and you can walk straight to the Silberberg and the summer toboggan run. The location also makes it easy to go on excursions and get away from everyday busyness. We stayed for two weeks with our children, 10 and 7, in the Buchenhain semi-detached house at the old forester’s lodge. It was just the right size for us and very well maintained. Our hosts shared lots of good ideas for outings, like a hike with the Woid Woife from Bodenmais or a visit to the Flederwisch adventure workshop in Furth im Wald. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. The boys want to stay longer next time 😀

Those sensational cinnamon rolls we got on arrival were the icing on the cake. We spent a family weekend at the Old Forester's Lodge with our dog, and all of us felt at home. Michaela and Tom have furnished the place with so much care, and it’s a lovely place surrounded by nature. Our dog was welcomed, not merely tolerated. Even with several dogs staying there, the spacious grounds and the apartments’ different locations made it easy to keep some distance. Our hosts also gave us plenty of personal tips for excursions, thank you so much! We absolutely recommend the Old Forester's Lodge for a relaxing break in peaceful natural surroundings with incredibly kind and helpful hosts.

Michaela is such a friendly, lovely woman. The place was spotless and quiet, right beside the forest. It’s perfect for dogs, especially on New Year’s Eve.
