Best Western Hotel President

I’d seen a few mixed reviews and wasn’t sure what to expect from the President Hotel, but the stay turned out phenomenal. My room was peaceful, with soundproof windows that kept out the nearby motorway noise. The Poppelsdorf neighborhood is lively, with plenty of restaurants, bars and shops a short, pleasant walk away, and secure bike parking was a nice bonus. The room was immaculate, modern and comfortable, with an in-room tablet, coffee and tea station, and a fantastic bathroom with a spacious shower and great water pressure. The bed made for a perfect night’s sleep. Staff were among the kindest and most professional I’ve encountered while traveling. They were always available at reception, helpful and welcoming. People calling the hotel dated must not have seen the recent renovations or the changes since the new management took over in May 2025. The improvements are clear. It offers incredible value and a world-class experience, and after staying in hotels all over the world, this was easily one of my best stays. I’ll absolutely be back.

There’s secure bike parking out back, and restaurants, cafes and shops are right on the doorstep in lively Poppelsdorf. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were super helpful and always available at reception. Yes, it’s a little dated, and I could hear motorway noise from my room, but closing the window and turning on the air conditioning helped. I’d totally stay here again.

Breakfast was very nice, with fresh orange juice, which I love, and a different selection each day: cheeses, bread, fruit, yogurt, eggs, bacon and more. The staff gave us a nice German-style welcome. The rooms were clean, pleasant and insulated from street noise, with air conditioning and comfortable beds. They left chocolate each day, and we had a coffee machine, tea supplies and water in the room. The center of Bonn and the train station are about a 15-20 minute walk away. There are lots of bars and restaurants around, though their kitchens close at 22, and after that they only serve drinks. Nothing to complain about, I recommend it!

Once inside with the window shut, it’s a great hotel. The beds are nice, the room is clean, and the shower pressure is fantastic. The main drawback is being right above a four-lane motorway. The views are spectacular, but the noise makes it hard to open a window.
