The traditional German food was really tasty, and we got a clean room with good beds and the basics we needed. We stayed in one of the new extensions. It's a very cute hotel near Kiel, and the owners were super kind. A place I'll remember.

The staff are really friendly and attentive, and the food is absolutely delicious, prepared with a lot of care. The evening menu looks a little short at first, with about 10 dishes on one page, but there's still plenty of variety. I think that focused menu helps keep the quality high. Definitely worth a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Breakfast was good, and my room was bright and quiet. The building is a beautiful historic one, and the hotel feels refreshingly different. Everyone was so friendly at reception, with a welcoming family atmosphere that made me feel at home. I can highly recommend it and will certainly stay again on future trips to the Rendsburg/Kiel area.

Bovenau's village center is idyllic, and it's a handy base for bike rides and other trips through the countryside, past lakes and out to the Baltic Sea, or to Rendsburg and Eckernförde. We were looking for somewhere in the region to stay for the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and after a while found Glücksquell (Source of Happiness), which lived up to its name. My friends and I felt comfortable right away. The hotel combines old and renovated features, with modern rooms that are decorated with care. Rebecca and Stefan Dietrich are warm, helpful hosts who made us feel at home and were happy to handle special requests. Breakfast was varied and delicious, served in a bright but cozy area or on the lovely terrace. We haven't tried the menu of fresh regional products yet, but we'll make up for that next time. Glücksquell is a lovely spot to unwind and feel at ease.

On two bike tours I've stopped in for coffee and cake. The setting beside the beautiful church is idyllic, with plenty of seating inside and out. The quality is very good. I haven't tried the hotel or restaurant.
