B&B HOTEL Braunschweig-West

Formerly an Ibis, this hotel now runs as a B&B. It's handy for the highway and has plenty of free parking, which makes it a good choice for an overnight stop while traveling. The room was small but clean, breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and capable. Getting coffee or tea to take on the road was easy.

A very basic motel with a stale, clinical smell and no customer service. We paid at the electronic kiosk, and somehow got charged twice because the machine was broken. When we asked the next day, nobody could or would help. We called and sent several emails, but got no reply. Months later, we still haven't heard anything.

Live review: the worst hotel stay I've had in Germany. We had booked and paid online, but the self-check-in machine asked us to pay again before letting us in. Otherwise, we'd have to wait two hours for someone to come and let us in. We called the ibis number listed at the hotel, and the woman who answered was extremely rude and arrogant. She asked what was wrong with waiting two hours for them to come. The problem is we'd already paid in full from 3 PM. They were arrogant and don't belong in a service business.

Cheap and clean, with working Wi-Fi and basic facilities. You get a bed and a shower for the money, and it does the job, but it's not much fun. The industrial area felt gloomy, and the rooms had a dreary hospital look in pistachio green and beige. I stayed here in February 2019. Once it's dark, at least nobody can see you cry.
