Hotel Carl von Clausewitz

For €65 a night, two people get a roomy bedroom and bathroom, plus the usual towels and soap. The bed was soft and the pillow very fluffy and high, though street noise from cars cost me some sleep. The shower water was mostly lukewarm, with occasional hot and cold spells. I couldn't find a price list for the water on the table in the room, so I assumed one bottle per person was free. It's a decent place if you need a solid stay and don't mind paying a little extra. Nothing extraordinary, though.

Polish was no problem for the staff, but English was limited. The reception response was painfully slow: I rang the bell for almost 20 minutes before anyone came. The rooms themselves were pretty okay.

There are supermarkets nearby, and the railway station isn't far away either. Burg is about 25 km from Magdeburg. This is a good B&B Hotel, and the staff speak several languages. Breakfast is available if you want it, but you can also skip it.

On a cold, rainy night, the central heating made my room feel wonderfully warm as soon as I came in. The hotel was tidy, clean, and quiet, with real flowers and elegant former army barracks buildings that I found beautiful. I picked Hotel Carl von Clausewitz because I was in Burg to visit the Clausewitz museum. But beyond its name, Hotel CVC had no Clausewitz posters or other related decor. A few touches honoring the great man from Burg would have earned my sixth star.
