A few days before the Hannover Messe (30 May - 2 Jun), the owner canceled our reservation, which I'd booked and paid for in full through booking.com. It wrecked our plans for a four-day stay. Prices for everything were two or three times higher during the Hannover Fair, so we had to return to Berlin on the first day and lost the second day. I managed to find somewhere for the final night, but it was still expensive. They only posted a sentence on the booking website, and their phone went to an automatic French answering machine. I suppose they'd changed booking companies, but that was completely unacceptable for us.
