Hotel The Square

There isn't an elevator, so keep that in mind. Our room was on the third floor, spacious and tidy, with a small kitchen and a view over the courtyard. The directions for picking up the keys were clear, and getting inside was no problem. The Square Hotel worked well for our one night in Coburg. It's right in the center, within walking distance of most major places, including Veste Coburg, about a 30-minute walk away. Breakfast isn't served, but you can prepare something yourself or go to a nearby cafe. I'd recommend it.

The owners were very friendly, and staying in a building with so much history was lovely. Our third-floor apartment had a bedroom and kitchen and plenty of space, but it was basic and could use an update. The street outside was quiet, which made for good sleeping. A raised step between the bedroom and kitchen nearly tripped me, so a warning sticker might help. The hairdryer was sitting on the toilet cistern, where it could easily fall into the toilet. The bathroom sink was very small and low, so I was glad there was a kitchen sink for brushing my teeth. There was a kettle, but only coffee, no tea bags.

The owner kindly accepted my booking by phone at the very last minute, around 23:30, while it was pouring rain. I was so relieved to have somewhere to stay in Coburg. The suite was lovely and clean, with a nice atmosphere. It's centrally located and highly recommended!

We had a room facing the market square, and the hotel's overall feel was great. There's also a small kitchen on every floor that all guests can use for free. The Square Hotel made a big contribution to our enjoyable night in Coburg. Right in the center, it was easy to walk to nearly all the main spots, including Veste Coburg. The room was very tidy, and the bathroom gave no hint of the building's protected, historic age.
