We booked online and were put in the annex, on the fourth floor with no lift. The windows were open when we entered, and it seemed like they were trying to cover up a bad smell. We asked to move because of heart issues and the stairs, but were told nothing was available and to try later. At 9 pm, Olga yelled from her office asking what we needed. She found a second-floor room, but said we’d have to pay €39 for cleaning. When I questioned why we should pay to move from a smelly room on the fourth floor without a lift, she yelled that I couldn’t call it smelly or mention the floor, called me a liar, and refused to give me her name or let me speak to a manager. I got her name from other staff. Other staff also suggested this was a common problem and that owners or managers didn’t help. I planned to call the managers in the morning. Don’t waste your money here.

The rooms at the back were peaceful, with just the river and birds to hear. The hotel was very clean and pleasant, and breakfast was excellent. Next time, I’d leave my car in the parking garage down the street.

The breakfast and internet speed were the only good parts for us. There’s no air conditioning, the pillows were terrible, and the bathrooms are tiny. Free parking isn’t included, and there are only about four street spaces for the whole stretch of hotels, so you have to get lucky. I’d suggest staying somewhere else in town.

The place we were sent to was 350 metres from the main hotel. We were told it was an annex, but it was actually Hotel Holl, and nothing like the lovely-looking hotel we thought we had booked. For a premium price we got a second-rate basement room. We will not stay in the annex again.

The beds were much too soft for me, and I could only manage one night. Parking the car was a bit tricky, though the place was quiet at night. The room was large, with four beds, and the staff were nice and helpful. It’s a short walk to the center, and breakfast was good. For the price, the friendly hostess and breakfast pushed my rating from a 3 to a 4.
