25hours Hotel The Circle

I usually really like 25hours Hotels for their distinct atmosphere, bar idea, interior design, and attention to detail, and Cologne has all of that too. The letdown was the reception service. We didn't feel welcome at either check-in or check-out. Both interactions felt indifferent and transactional, with no friendly greeting, no question about our journey, and little sense of hospitality. They asked if it was our first stay, even though we'd been to 25hours in Cologne several times. When we said that, the blunt reply was, “then you already know everything,” which didn't feel appreciative. The same tone carried through at checkout. We wanted to buy one of the stuffed animals from the shop, a fun idea, but every one we saw was torn at the seams. When we asked if there might be packaged ones somewhere, we just got “No.” There was no apology, offer to look, or alternative like an online shop. We were sent off with a short “goodbye” and no wish for a safe trip home. It's a stylish hotel with a great concept, but hospitality at the front desk is a must.

The breakfast was outstanding, and the restaurant on the 8th floor has lovely views. We spent four nights here with my son after booking through eurostar, and found the service excellent. The rooms were spacious, with cafes and restaurants close by. It’s an easy 15-minute walk from the train station, and handy for most things. Koln was so much fun. Highly recommended!

The retro decor, fun music and shop and games in the foyer were the best part for me. There’s even a running club and sauna if that’s your thing. The rooms are simple but comfortable and stylish, and breakfast had a great range for different tastes. It’s a short walk from the town centre, with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, and this one has made my top ten. We absolutely loved it.

The rooftop bar was a real highlight, with a stunning view across Cologne, especially at sunset. The cocktails were delicious and the place felt lively but still cozy. We had a comfortable, stylish room with everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. The whole hotel has lots of character, with quirky room designs and playful touches throughout. It’s also right in the heart of the city, within walking distance of the cathedral, shopping streets and plenty of good restaurants. A unique stay, highly recommended if you want something different in Cologne.
