I wouldn't recommend Hotel Alt Deutz. The online description makes it sound modern and comfortable and suggests it's conveniently located, but that didn't match what we found. For what we paid, a price comparable to real 3- or 4-star hotels in Cologne, the place fell far below basic expectations and left us feeling misled. Getting any sleep was difficult. Noise came from the adjoining property and large groups moving in and out throughout the night, and the walls were so thin we could hear people breathing next door. The bed was hard, sagged in the middle, and creaked loudly whenever we moved. Our tiny room had little space for luggage or getting around, and there was no lift, so bags had to be carried upstairs. There's no room fridge or tea and coffee setup on site either. That was especially frustrating on Sunday morning, when most nearby cafés were closed and even getting coffee was hard. The bathroom was awkwardly arranged, with the shower and toilet squeezed together and the sink in the bedroom. The listing photos made the room seem far more spacious and comfortable than it was. We chose it because we thought it was close to the station, but it wasn't especially convenient, particularly with luggage. I honestly felt scammed. Look elsewhere.

We only stayed briefly, but had a really good time. The room was compact and cozy, and we got a decent night's sleep after the event we'd come to attend. The administration was friendly and very helpful, and the location worked well, with plenty of transport options and a train station nearby. I'd consider coming back.

At check-in the staff seemed friendly, but things went downhill once I saw the room. It was much smaller than the picture on the booking site, with only the bed, chair, and bathroom matching what was shown. I felt cheated. My friend and I went back to the desk, and staff said there were no rooms available then but they could move us the next day. We were already doubtful, and the employee sighed and looked irritated, so I spent the next three nights and four days just putting up with it until I could leave. The bedding was poor, the bathroom was a mess, and the Wi-Fi was awful. Think twice before booking here. It isn't cheap, and I couldn't see any upside.

A clean hotel with a really friendly reception. The price was reasonable for a very good overnight stay, and I'd recommend it.

Everything I needed was in the room, including a hairdryer, hot water, and the basic essentials. The location is very convenient, almost right in the city centre, and the self check-in and check-out made things easy. Great value, and I'd gladly come back.
