Our corner room was spacious and had a great view of Cologne Cathedral and the bridges, which made it easy to relax. The bed was comfortable, and the large bathroom made taking a proper bath easy. Breakfast was fresh and clean, with a good range of dishes and fresh juices. The Raddison VIP membership benefits were honored as described in the membership terms. For a four-star hotel, I'd rate it 5/5.

The location worked really well for sightseeing. The Lindt Chocolate Museum is next door, and the nearest bus stop is right there too. Underground parking connects straight to reception by elevator. The garage is roomier than many city garages, though spaces can go early. We arrived before 4:00 PM and found one easily, so arriving early is a good idea. We stayed in a spacious, well-appointed 1-Bedroom Suite with a Panorama Harbour View and a lovely atmosphere. It had wall-to-wall carpeting, as is typical of many German hotels, so bear that in mind if you strongly prefer hard floors. The large bathtub was great. The layout is semi-open, but the shower and toilet each have their own closed door. You can also open the windows for fresh air. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of tea, real scrambled eggs and options such as lactose-free yogurt. The small gym felt undersized for a hotel of this caliber. I've never seen it completely full before, and although I got a treadmill early in the morning, there wasn't enough room for strength training. A very good Cologne base if you want space, modern amenities and an easy location for exploring, though the gym is quite cozy.

The Rhine view was a highlight, and the floral designs on the glass wall between the bathroom and room add a distinctive touch. The rooms themselves are simple. There’s a fridge, safe, and reliable internet, plus a small gym that gets busy in the mornings. Comfortable stay.

I wouldn’t recommend Art Hotel Cologne. I told them ahead of time that a medical situation meant I couldn’t travel, but they still refused to cancel the booking. There was no flexibility or understanding, and the staff came across as cold and unprofessional, as if payment mattered more than guests. From the information and impressions I could find, the rooms also seemed dated and not properly clean. In an emergency, I’d expect a business to show some empathy and try to find a reasonable solution. This experience left me with little trust in the hotel.
