Astor & Aparthotel

The hotel was fine for the location and low price when I stayed a few months ago. But I left some expensive clothes there that I’d just bought during the trip. The hotel initially said they were happy to return them if I paid shipping, so I did, including buying a DHL package. After several emails and being told the manager was away, they stopped responding. My German girlfriend also contacted them to retrieve my things. They said they’d call back, then went quiet and ignored the emails. I know leaving the clothes behind was my fault, but saying they would return them and then ignoring me was unprofessional. I even included screenshots of our email conversations and proof I bought the DHL package.

Sonia, the lovely Ass. Hotelmanager, was the highlight for us. She treated us kindly and always had a smile. My boyfriend and I had a very good stay at Astor Aparthotel in Köln. The room was very clean and had everything we needed, parking was available, the price was accessible, and the location was perfect. We’ll definitely come back on our next visit to Köln!

The location is very good, right in the city center, and the room has the basics. But thin walls and poorly sealed windows let street music and party noise through loudly until late, even though my room faced an empty courtyard. I could barely sleep. The internet kept going down, and staff couldn’t fix it that night. I needed it for office work, so the outages and noise made my business trip really annoying and kept me up far later than I wanted. It feels more like a pension than a hotel, and might suit someone who just needs a decent bed after partying or a long night of sightseeing.

Breakfast was probably my favorite part of the stay: lots to choose from, everything delicious, and the breakfast ladies were kind and quick. The staff in general were kind and competent, and it was nice talking with them. I also appreciated that they took my request for a quiet room into account. Mine was clean and very quiet, though a little old. The hotel is in a good spot in Koeln, with bus stops, shops, and restaurants nearby. The station is under 20 minutes away on foot, or you can take a bus.
