B&B Hotel Köln-Airport

For the price, this was great value. The bed was more comfortable than at ibis, and the heating was strong. The staff were super friendly. I arrived before 11 pm and checked in at reception, though I believe after that you have to use a machine. The location worked well for the business I had nearby and made it easy to get to the main road. There’s a KFC about 50 steps away, and a McDonald’s a minute’s drive away if you don’t like that. Breakfast was simple but fine to start the day, with sandwich fixings, boiled eggs, fruit, muesli, and different coffees. There’s also a snack and drink machine, and parking costs 5 euros.

Everything in this hotel feels mini sized. Our family room for three was so cramped there was barely room to move, and the bathroom was tiny. The shower was especially tight, with hardly enough space to turn around. It was difficult to get through the breakfast area when every table was occupied, too.

I was treated in a humiliating way by the receptionist, who made me sit on the sofa like a small child and threatened to call the police. There were other displays of superiority, too, and I dislike a hotel that allows this. They charged for parking even though it clearly wasn’t ready to use, and I had to go find the registration number of the hired vehicle. The employee then showed a xenophobic attitude.

The room was clean and breakfast was decent. There was a slightly odd smell when I first walked in, but it was a good experience overall.
