We were given an old, rusty room that was noisy because of construction next door, after being mistakenly assigned something different from what was advertised at check-in. The bed was comfortable, though, so we didn’t have any major complaints. The hotel is decent and has easy access to the Central station and the city’s main attractions.

The location is great for the Christmas markets, and the rooms are basic but functional. The pillows were absolutely shocking, just as many other reviews say. They have no support and there are no spare ones in the room, so stacking a few wasn’t an option. I ended up folding jumpers from my case to try to get some support. There was also what was presumably a staff Christmas party on the 6th floor that went on until the early hours. We were on floor 5, and the noise was ridiculous. It completely spoiled my night’s sleep.

We walked everywhere in Cologne from this really convenient spot near the rail station, cathedral and Christmas Markets. The attached brewery is a nice bonus.

The breakfast had a good range of hot and cold options, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the Dom and Hauptbahnhof, and even nearer to cafes, restaurants and shops. I was very happy with my stay and would recommend it.

Construction and street sounds made it a bit noisy, though that’s not the hotel’s fault. Otherwise, it was a solid stay, with a perfect spot right beside the church and within walking distance of the train station. I’d recommend it.
