The owners were so welcoming, and you can feel how much care they put into making guests comfortable. I loved the warm, relaxed atmosphere. The house itself is impressive too, with such an interesting interior that I kept wanting to look at all the little details.

The host was a real gentleman. Even though I speak no German, he took the time to show us the things he has collected over the years and explain how he worked on the building’s exterior during the lockdowns. Such a relaxed place to unwind. This pub and guest house is really one of a kind, and I’ll come back if I’m nearby again.

We’ll definitely return to Gasthaus Wessel. The romantic room made it feel like a lovely couples’ getaway, and it’s easy to reach with the train station close by and secure parking available. Such a snug, cozy place to stay while visiting cologne.

The Inn keeper was really helpful with directions and ideas for what to see and do, and the service was friendly. Breakfast was lovely too. It’s near the tram station, and the place looks especially nicely decorated over Christmas 🤶
