Hotel Glockengasse

Breakfast was worth paying for. We hadn’t booked it ahead, but reception arranged it for us in less than ten minutes that morning, and it was incredibly good. The rooms were very clean and fairly priced, with smooth check-in and checkout, and the service was excellent. You can walk to the train station, and the city center is about five minutes away. I’d definitely recommend it.

We were charged €20 for breakfast after the man in charge had confirmed the night before that it was included. The next morning, a maid brought the bill for a breakfast of one boiled egg and a couple of slices of cheese, while he was nowhere to be found. We had also paid, reluctantly, an €8-per-person “Stadtsteuer” after he said it wasn’t part of our Agoda booking price. We’d booked through Agoda mainly because of the central location, but there was no staff around at check-in. When we saw him on the second day, he said he didn’t speak English. These charges and the way they were handled left a sour taste through our whole trip. I’m very unsatisfied and wouldn’t use this platform or recommend the hotel.

The hotel staff were so kind and helpful. I left my AirPods in the room when I headed out early in the morning, and only realized after boarding at the airport. I called to ask if they’d found them, and they mailed them to my home that same day. Thank you! The place is also very clean and affordable, right in a central area near restaurants, the cathedral, and the river. A real hidden gem, with people who communicate well.

For a budget-friendly stay, this place was great. The rooms were warm and clean, the beds comfortable, and the bathroom and shower were good too. It’s close to the main attractions, shops, and restaurants, and the staff were friendly.
