Hotel Ilbertz Garni

The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was much bigger than you usually get in a hotel. The room also had air conditioning and a hairdryer. Breakfast was generous and tasty, with excellent service, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was clean, too. The place was lovely, though it felt a little worn and could use an update. I could also hear people talking in nearby rooms.

The location worked well for getting around: it was an easy walk to the city center and right by a major tram line. WiFi was reliable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I paid 110 euros for the night in April, when breakfast wasn't available to buy. My single room was small but had enough space for one person. The bathroom had a bad smell unless I left the window open, and the TV didn't work either as a television or with HDMI for using my laptop at the desk.

From the hotel, it's a short walk to two bridges across the Rhine, which lead to the old town and Cathedral. My room was quiet and pleasant, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had good pressure. A great base for a trip to Cologne, and I'd recommend it.

Our room wasn't ready when it should have been, but they apologized with chocolate and wine, which was really kind. The staff were friendly and helpful.
