Mauritius Hotel & Therme

The rooms were modern, clean, and perfectly acceptable, but the rest of our first overnight stay left us disappointed. We were four friends there in January 2026, and none of us plans to return. The sauna was partly under reconstruction and had lost the warm, welcoming feel I remembered from earlier visits. Restaurant service and food were both average, nothing memorable. The worst part was checking in. The older male hotel manager stared at us in an unfriendly way, spoke irritably, and seemed dismissive. We felt like a nuisance instead of welcome guests, and the uncomfortable first exchange set a bad tone. We all agreed the next morning that the stay hadn't met expectations. I'd visited the sauna before, but this was my first night at the hotel.

The spa is a strong point, with a pool, steam room, several saunas, and a gym. Saunas are clothing-free, while swimwear at the pool is optional. The breakfast buffet also had plenty to choose from, hot and cold, savory and sweet, and the staff were efficient and helpful. The bedding was good too. From Neumarkt station, with tram and metro connections, it's about a six-minute walk. The giraffe-themed lobby looks modern. My room had the usual desk, bed, TV, minibar fridge, AC, and safe; the bathroom had a sink, shower, and toilet. There was no kettle or coffee machine, no bottled water, and only soap and toilet paper for amenities. The restaurant and bar are nice, though it was odd that many people used a door there to reach the pool. I would have liked bathrobes and slippers included instead of €8, and spa access included for hotel guests rather than €10. WiFi didn't work at all in my room. Renovation work seemed to be going on, which might explain it. Some basic amenities and a coffee plate would help. Tip: to fully switch off the TV, hold the remote's on/off button until a prompt asks you to confirm. That stops a bright light blinking at 6am.

I’m rating only the spa. The outdoor saltwater pool was my favorite, and the place was clean with friendly staff. There are lots of saunas, but most felt too cool for my taste; the one in the patio was the exception. They offer a different Aufguss every hour, though at peak times it gets so crowded you can barely get in. It’s right in the city centre, so easy to reach.

The spa was clean and had a relaxing feel, and the hotel and staff were very friendly. Its location made getting around the city centre easy, with plenty of good coffee spots and places to eat nearby. Parking was a bit far away and somewhat pricey at €30 a day. We were very happy with the stay.
