Opera Hotel Köln

The Boutique building, which I believe is newer, is across the street from the front desk. My room had updated furnishings and fixtures and was spotless. It’s great value for the quality, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the stay. The Dom and the river are each about a 10-minute walk away, with the main shopping street and lots of restaurants nearby. I’ll absolutely stay here again when I’m back in Köln.

The location is awesome, just a 2-minute walk to the centre, but I wouldn’t visit again. The rooms are okay, though noisy enough that you can hear the people next door talking when it’s quiet. Around 7am, people started slamming doors on their way to breakfast, which was really annoying. There was blood on our curtains and wall, and lots of cracks in the ceiling. The bathroom was fine, but the showerhead only turns toward the glass, so you have to hold it to shower properly. Breakfast was limited, the bread wasn’t good, and once mine had mold. The eggs ran out quickly, and I never saw them refill them. Paying 16 euros per day for moldy bread and not even being able to get an egg is crazy. The coffee was good, though. The wifi also didn’t work most of the time.

The room was clean and comfy, and within walking distance of all the Christmas markets. The location is excellent, tucked behind a business street, so it wasn’t that noisy.

We stayed for 4 nights and had a great time in a perfect location. Reception Manager Veronica took the best care of us. Thank you so much for everything.
