The food was quite good, though the prices seem to include a little extra for the location. The restaurant sits nicely by the Rhine, and the staff were friendly in that Cologne way, which takes some getting used to. As a native, I like it.

Maybe it was the season, but when I arrived at 8 pm in February, the hotel and restaurant were closed. There was a phone number, but I didn’t call, and I spent that night at a friend’s hotel instead. I came back at 9 the next morning and the restaurant was still closed, with nobody at the hotel entrance. In the end, I found a room at a hotel chain where someone is at reception all the time. That system may work for this hotel, but nobody had told me about it, and that’s my complaint.

The view and location are great, and I liked the restaurant too. Customer service, though, needs a lot of improvement.

The room was dirty and dated, and it was literally half the size shown in the listing. With no separation from the restaurant, the noise was extreme.

We were there after a funeral, so it was a sad occasion, but the service was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and polite.
