Stern am Rathaus

The breakfast was super, including homemade butter. The operating team made us feel like we had friends in Cologne from the minute we arrived. They’re warm, kind, and genuinely keen to share ideas for making a visit more enjoyable. It’s a charming place in a central location, with clean contemporary design, comfortable beds, and quiet nights. In the morning you can hear the melodic bells from a nearby bellfry. I’ve visited Colonge many times for work and am glad I found Stern am Rathaus.

The rooms are simple, but they had everything I needed. Breakfast was 10/10, with homemade butter, Wurstsalat, brötchen, and even overnight oats. Such a lovely little hotel in the centre of Köln, and the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The personal touches made our visit feel special, especially on the morning of my Birthday (29th): they decorated my table, brought champagne and a treat with a candle, and sang Happy Birthday. Andy and Ingmar were welcoming and attentive from the moment we arrived, always greeting us with a smile and great spirits. They also gave us useful tips about the area, places to eat, and ways to travel. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and super clean, and breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. We stayed at Hotel Stern am Rathaus from October 28 to 30 this year, and truly appreciated the care and genuine hospitality. We’d highly recommend it.

Andy and Ingmar were so helpful with advice on places to eat and drink, and they’re wonderful ambassadors for Köln. The welcome from everyone was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel: warm, funny, engaging, and helpful. Breakfast had lots of variety and was very good. Our room was perfect for a short trip, with a shower, bath, and air conditioning, and it was quiet. The train station is a five-minute walk away, and the cathedral, shops, and restaurants are close too. This is the hotel you should stay at!
