Wandery Hostel Dessau

I used to stay at this hostel several times while traveling home to my country, and things were usually fine, even under its previous name. I came back a few more times after the name and owner changed, but one winter visit was especially bad. It was around January or February, in the middle of winter. I arrived late, around 1 or 2 AM, planning to sleep and leave early. My ground-floor room had no heating at all. It was incredibly cold, and I had to sleep in my boots, jacket, and even a hat to stay warm. There was no staff around at that hour, and the hostel uses access codes, so nobody was there to help. I definitely don't recommend it anymore. One star.

The easy check-in was appreciated, and for the price I got all the services of a premium hostel. I was in Dessau for a conference, found the property on Hostelworld, and decided to try it. Apparently it had reopened a while ago, and I'm glad I booked. I had a spacious private standard room that was very clean, with a TV for streaming movies in the evening and a working table. I also met some cool folks at the hostel, so we could explore the city later. The location was convenient for me, and I'd definitely recommend it to others traveling to Dessau.

The location was incredibly convenient, very close to the city center. We were warmly welcomed, and our rooms were exceptionally clean. Whenever we needed help, someone was there promptly and kindly. We're extremely grateful for the hospitality and support. Thank you :))

Breakfast is served downstairs on the ground floor, not buffet-style. You choose from a few options and they bring it to you. The "big breakfast set" is quite big. There's also a garage converted into a bike garage, with room for 12 bikes and a few sockets for charging electric bikes. I slept in a street-facing room with the window open and there was almost no noise. There's free wifi, and the password is on the laminated card in every room. The place is nice and clean. Don't believe what they write about the breakfast being in the basement. For some reason Germans often call the ground floor the basement, and it happens in many places.
