The landlord yelled at me and banned me from the premises. It was a public holiday, and I was left without accommodation, my money gone, and two children with me. Absolutely outrageous. I'd booked well ahead, then drove 500 km with my two children only to find the place completely overbooked. The landlord said there'd been water damage, while the tour operator said it was overbooked. I hadn't been notified. The alternative was two hotel rooms, which was unacceptable with children. Breakfast came at an exorbitant price, so instead of a holiday apartment with a kitchen, I was offered a small hotel room with an extra charge for breakfast. The landlord was unfriendly, and many others were in the same situation. Who else was affected? Is this fraud? A cynic might suspect foul play.

There weren't even four cups, and the kitchenware could use an upgrade. Dishes were scarce, and the pots and pans were the cheapest kind. The apartment itself is nice, though the decor feels very cold and some areas are cluttered. The bathroom is much too large, and its towel warmer was disconnected at the fuse box, so it couldn't be used. There's nowhere to hang clothes in the bedrooms, though a clothes rack would be enough.

The apartment was large and clean, but the whole experience was not worth the hassle and stress. You don't treat guests like that. Never again. We'd booked one of these apartments spontaneously through a booking service the day before. On arrival day, we tried calling the owner to find out how to get in. The number listed on the website didn't exist, and the other number we had couldn't be reached either. With time running short to find somewhere for our children, I only read these reviews too late. We drove there on a hunch with our booking confirmation, but found only other guests. They gave us what seemed to be a valid number from the associated hotel, since they'd also been unable to reach anyone. We also checked the hotel, but no one was there. For three hours we tried every number and got no answer. After countless calls and complaints to the booking service, I got a text asking who I was and what I'd booked. I had to keep texting back and forth and explain three times what we wanted, then was told he supposedly had no booking from us. When we asked why he hadn't answered the phone, he said that's how communication works. Those were three horrific hours, worrying we'd have to drive five hours home with the children at 8 pm because the owner was trying to fob us off and, in my opinion, pocket the money since we'd given up. After a lot of back and forth, he finally gave us an apartment.

We got there around 7 pm and left by 8. The place hadn't been cleaned: the toilet was filthy, with urine stones and feces, and the kitchen had greasy marks on the dining table, a dirty sink, and a dirty floor. The bed linens weren't fresh either. There were no smoke detectors anywhere in the building, including the rooms. When we raised it, the owner was unfriendly and aggressive. We weren't going to spend two nights there with our young child in those conditions. I'd give zero stars if I could.
