Hyperion Dresden Am Schloss

I felt very safe traveling alone, and the spa was wonderful. The hotel was comfortable and clean, and the staff were a delight to talk to. Fantastic location! I’ll definitely stay again next time I’m in Dresden.

The only real downside was the church bells nearby. They rang briefly every 15 minutes through the night, either to tell the time or for some other reason. It was annoying enough that we had to keep the windows shut all night, and we didn’t wake up feeling well rested, despite being in a quiet courtyard. I can only hope the night ringing is limited to the period before or around Christmas. The hotel itself deserves a strong recommendation: the rooms are exceptionally large, and the very high ceilings make them feel even more spacious. Breakfast was excellent, with high-quality bread and a wide selection that left us wanting for nothing.

The location is great, and the service was excellent. I also liked the minibar. What held the stay back was the bedding and towels: the pillows were extremely flat, and the towels felt basic, more like three-star quality. They all had a strong Clorox-like smell, too. The place was clean enough, though not especially spotless.

We had a very quiet four-night stay in room 425, which was laid out so we shared no walls with other rooms except the far bathroom wall. That was just what we needed after long days sightseeing. We booked a Superior Room with breakfast, and the staff at the desk, breakfast room, bar, and room service were all very friendly and helpful. They topped up the minibar every day. We were really pleased with the stay.
