Staycity Aparthotels Dresden

Our flat was really nice, and we had a good experience overall. We did have to wait 20 minutes at the reception on the 6th floor for someone to come check us in. Luckily, there’s a rooftop bar right next to reception, so we waited there.

The rooms are nicely done, the location is great, and the basic amenities like soap and lotion were there. The kitchenette was good and the baby bed worked well. We were fine with the limited service and cleaning, but parking nearby is expensive and there’s no hotel parking. The rooftop bar is beautiful, though it’s self-service and overpriced, and the food wasn't very good. We also found the rooms stuffy and hot, especially the bathroom, which needs better ventilation. We had to leave the windows open, since there’s no air conditioning. Construction next door started around 6:30am both mornings and was so noisy we couldn't sleep. Closing the windows made the heat even worse. Fans would be a good idea.

The room and location were nice, check-in was fine, and it was handy to get the minibar restocked for free. The rooftop bar was cool and the staff there were nice, but the value for the price was awful. Why not provide a fan in the summer heat? There seem to have been plenty of reviews about fans and summer, but management hasn't listened. Opening the windows isn't an option with the tram line right in front, and on some summer nights, like tonight, it wouldn't help anyway. There’s nobody at reception after 6 pm 😂. Cleanliness was a 2/5: there were blood or insect marks on the walls, enough dust to set off my allergy, and a plastic cup of cigarettes of unknown age beside the balcony entrance, which was gross. The WiFi kept logging me out and was very slow. Thank god I'm only here one night.

The Hoff, bars, restaurants, a pharmacy and a convenience store are all just a couple of minutes away, along with public transport and the old town. I stayed in February and found the rooms, rates and staff fantastic. Breakfast was delicious, though a bit pricey. I’d put this first on my list for another Dresden visit.
