The owner was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The place is mostly used by tradespeople, and the standard reflects that. I especially appreciated being able to use the cooking facilities in the shared area. It’s on the edge of town, next to a school and a forest.

The owner was waiting to greet us when we arrived, and was very friendly and easygoing. The room was clean and well kept. It felt a little like a school boarding house, but that didn’t bother us. After a hot shower and a quiet night, we left feeling relaxed the next day. We’d love to come back!

The cancellation went smoothly, at least. We decided not to stay after finding a strong bad smell, a very dirty bedside table, no shower curtain, mold, and a yellowed, stained pillowcase under the pillow. The old-fashioned TV was dusty, and the toilet seat was dirty and broken, with a crack. Even the table by the entrance with the orange tablecloth was filthy. We were personally collected and shown to our room, where we noticed the smell and bedside table straight away. A picture says it all, but here’s the description anyway. This is a hotel you really shouldn’t book. We can’t understand where the good reviews come from, including those on Booking.com and elsewhere. Don’t book!

The host was young, lively, and very friendly. Rooms were clean and quiet, and the bathroom was well equipped, with a bathtub. The spring mattresses felt a bit too soft to me, though the pillows were very comfortable. Wi-Fi is available, but the signal is very weak, so I took off a star. If you end up in Droyßig, there’s not much to see apart from the bears at the castle, but you’ll find good accommodation here for moderate prices.
