Holiday Inn Dusseldorf - Hafen

The accessible room had a spacious hallway, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower, and was very comfortable. The carpet was nice, and sparkling water, tea, and coffee were provided. I hadn't chosen an accessible room, though. The strong rosemary oil smell was off-putting when I first entered, and road noise came through despite the double glazing. Breakfast offered a good range of hot and cold food, with a coffee machine. WiFi seemed to work throughout the hotel, and the meeting rooms were well equipped. Meals and refreshments during breaks were good quality and a little different from the usual. They even provided a juicer and fresh fruit and vegetables.

The front desk staff were pleasant, the bar staff very friendly, and breakfast was above average for both food quality and variety. Rooms were a decent size, and service was good, but the infrastructure was badly maintained. The AC was broken for our whole week-long stay. We had to choose between sweltering and sweating all night with the window closed, or opening it and putting up with traffic and train noise. Given the room quality and location, the prices are high and the value is poor.

The suite was more of a loft, with the bedroom upstairs. We liked the outside terrace for breakfast, and the staff were very friendly and professional. The hotel interior felt a bit plain, but the location was fine, about 500 m from bars and restaurants and 1 km from the TV tower. One thing they could improve is the bread at breakfast. It was too soft and didn’t have the quality I’d expect from German bread.

The rooms had everything I needed for a long business trip, from an iron and ironing board to a kettle, and they were clean with climate control and a nice view. Breakfast was sumptuous, and the bar and restaurant staff were very friendly. The location worked well too, not far from the city center or the airport. I’d happily stay here again in Düsseldorf.
