Hotel Lux

The room had very few power outlets, and breakfast wasn’t included. Still, it’s a cosy place with quick service and warm, hospitable staff. It really felt like a home away from home, and being near the train station made getting around easy.

My flight was delayed, but I still reached the hotel five minutes before the check-in window closed. The owner said the hotel was already locked and there was nothing he could do. He hung up on me three times, then cancelled my Booking reservation, seemingly to prevent a bad rating. I was left alone at midnight in the middle of Dusseldorf, and I was not happy about it.

The receptionist was very helpful, and the hotel is close to Hbf, about 350mts from the back exit. My room smelled bad, the shower walls had Kalk and rust, some bulbs were fused, and the carpets weren’t well maintained. There’s no lift, and the stairs are very narrow.

Haupbahnhof is close by, which is handy. The rooms are in pretty modest shape, though, and there’s no elevator. The shower room was cold, and the shower only worked avatage. Shampoo came in little paper packs.
