The first 50 hours or so at Gensleiten seem especially useful for new riders. I did more than 70 hours there myself, and left with a solid understanding of horses and riding safely. Later, when I joined more experienced groups and rode somewhat wilder horses in the Bayerish Wald, I recommended Gensleiten to beginners who needed that strong safety focus. There's plenty of time to groom, so horse and rider can get used to each other. Safety gets a lot of attention, which felt reassuring both as a beginner and later on. There are two herds, mostly Creoles, and guests can volunteer to help clean the stables. The stay is usually Vollpension, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is meat-heavy, so it suits non-vegetarians well. Herbert is a gracious host, a great cook, and one of the most thoughtful conversationalists I've met. His wife and daughter Julia teach riding. Julia has a natural feel for instruction and the right instincts to help you progress. The landscape around Gensleiten is beautiful, with largely untouched nature. Mobile reception means driving about five minutes out of the valley, though there's WiFi at the riding house. It's about a 1 hour 40 minute drive from Munich. The directions after leaving the Autobahn and turning through the villages aren't always clear, so for a first visit I'd try to arrive with plenty of daylight.

It's very peaceful here, with clean air and lovely nature all around. The hosts are friendly and welcoming. My room was spacious and very clean, with fresh towels and bed linen, and breakfast is provided.

Our children are learning to ride here, and Karin is a wonderful instructor. The Aigner family made us feel so welcome that we feel completely at home. It's also an easy place to switch off and relax.

The riding trails are varied and fantastic, and I always felt safe, thanks to the horse and Karin Aigner. Everyone at the stables seemed both friendly and capable. I'm taking home lovely memories and pleasant encounters, and the value for money felt more than fair. I'll definitely return, and I'm already looking forward to it. I felt at home with the warm, welcoming Aigner family. My room was clean and well equipped, and the meals were fresh, homemade, and varied. Both hosts are excellent cooks in my opinion, and there was always something different to eat. They catered to every wish I had. Karin Aigner understands people as well as horses. The old-fashioned "riding stable atmosphere" I remember from childhood simply isn't here. I learned more from her in a few days than I had in years of riding lessons as a child. She takes time to answer questions clearly and thoughtfully, so you can understand what's going on. The horses are a joy to ride, nothing like the typical school horses that just plod along and don't respond. Every animal at Gensleiten seems happy, and you can especially see that when riding. That's what makes riding here so enjoyable.

We can't praise the Aigner family enough. My daughter feels so comfortable at every riding lesson, and Karin has a calming presence that seems to affect people and animals alike. We're very glad we found you and wholeheartedly recommend you.
