Everything was clean, and breakfast, while small, was decent. The walls are so thin you can hear every sound in the house, and the bed was very soft. The landline was almost impossible to reach, and the housekeeper seemed overwhelmed. The whole place felt abandoned, which affected everything. Two stars because it wasn't so good.

The single room isn't one I'd recommend. The mattress was too small for the bed, and the slatted frame slipped out, leaving me on the floor last night. I complained, and someone came to put it back together quickly, saying I'd jumped on it, which of course I hadn't. It collapsed again during the night, and the floor was badly stained too.

We came to cycle along the Franconian Saale River and found the place welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful, and the accommodation was very comfortable. After a far too generous dinner, we needed a few kilometers of walking to help it go down. We like it here and will be back.

I ended up choosing another hotel. The daytime temperature outside was 16 degrees Celsius, and the room window was open. The innkeeper said heating wasn't needed because it wasn't winter yet. There were no private TV channels. The bathroom didn't have even a bar of soap, just shower gel left by the previous guest on the sink. The towels were stiff as boards.
