a&o Frankfurt Ostend

The service was satisfactory, and it’s a comfortable, fun place to spend time with friends or other travelers. The room layout feels dated and the mattresses are very hard. They should do more to stop people smoking in rooms, since that could lead to unfair charges for guests who don’t smoke. Don’t expect extra linens for free, either, they cost nine euros. Staffing also needs attention: we had six people waiting in line for more than 20 minutes each.

I’ve stayed at three branches, Galluswarte, Ostend, and Stuttgart, and Frankfurt Ostend is the most modern of them in my opinion. At Ostend there’s a kitchen and laundry, plus four or five screens for online check-in, and the team are very helpful if you need assistance. You can also unlock your room with NFC on your phone after checking in online. Across my stays, I found the rooms beautiful and clean, with comfortable beds. Picking up the bed linen and covers at reception is practical, too. Overall, I’ve had a very positive experience.

Breakfast was a highlight. Akash kept the buffet supplied and the tables clean, and the fresh salami and cheese were good. The pancake machine was a fun touch. The hostel itself was great as well, with comfortable rooms, helpful reception and a friendly atmosphere.

Akash kept the breakfast food topped up and cleared tables quickly, so the area stayed tidy and organized. I really appreciated that. It’s a lively hostel that was clean during my stay, and the staff were approachable. A great budget option for travelers.
