Hotel Carlton

The bedding was okay, and the staff were friendly and helpful, but the room needs a lot of work. There were broken tiles, paint that needed touching up, a desk that was seriously caving in, and cockroaches. The nearby streets have drug users and 18+ areas, so walking around there didn’t feel nice. Staff told us how to go around it, though we followed Google Maps back.

I was here for Heimtex, and the clean rooms were a little small, though fine for one person. It suits business trips. The area isn’t very family-friendly, but Frankfurt main station is nearby, with trains connecting to every corner of the city.

The price felt far too high for the service and quality, and the whole stay was awful. We booked online in a rush and didn’t expect this. The location is surrounded by drunks, and the owner and German cleaning lady were rude. The sheets weren’t changed, and the room wasn’t cleaned properly. Soap in the washroom and the shower gel had both been diluted with water. The bathroom door handles were broken, half the bulbs were out, and staff were rude. They wouldn’t let us sit in the dining area unless we ordered and paid for food, though we’ve sat in other hotels without being asked to leave. I hope this helps someone else.

The hotel’s in a really convenient spot, with a mart across the street and Wi-Fi available all the time. It’s an old European building, so don’t expect modern, squeaky-clean rooms. I like the character of older buildings, and the staff do try to keep things clean and be helpful and friendly. There’s a dodge area a few blocks away, which is common around big stations.
