Hotel Cult

I’d read a few recent reviews and was a bit worried, but I tried it and came away pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and breakfast was good, and it’s an easy five-minute walk from the train station. Getting there from the airport was easy too. I brought a security door lock, but it didn’t fit the hotel locks. I felt safe and had a good stay, thanks!

I used to live across the street, but this was my first time staying at the hotel. I was surprised by how good it was. My wife and I paid a low price, and breakfast was included. The room was very clean and had everything we needed, even a refrigerator. It’s not the most central spot, but the two S-Bahn stations are under a three-minute walk away, and the tram is a minute away. The river is about seven minutes on foot, Lidl is right across from the hotel, and there’s a ReweToGo in the gas station across the street that’s open 24 hours. I’d recommend it as one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Frankfurt.

Oscar gave us a warm welcome, and our room was clean. It was nice to be able to open the windows. Breakfast was simple rather than luxurious, but had enough variety; finding a table in the restaurant can be tricky when it’s busy. Public transport is very close, and parking was handy and didn’t cost an unreasonable amount. We’d book again if we needed to. One thing a four-star hotel should at least have is coffee and tea facilities in the room.

I’d asked for a quiet room and got one overlooking the inner courtyard. It was peaceful, with no road, train, or construction noise. The cleaning staff could be heard once they started around 7 a.m., and one cleaner came into my room at 8, apparently assuming it was ready without checking with reception whether I’d checked out. Reception had only partly followed my written request, and that was a rough start to the morning. Cleanliness was acceptable but not perfect, with fingerprints and smudges on several mirrors. The room felt a bit dated and not quite like a “Comfort Double Room.” Two pillows per guest and thicker blankets for autumn and winter would be welcome; traveling alone, I was glad to have both blankets. Breakfast was modest but nicely presented: four hot dishes, cold cuts and ham, lots of cheese including soft cheese and mozzarella, a small salad bar, sweet spreads, different breads, and fruit. Vegetarians should find it fresh and satisfying. For vegans, the choice was limited to the usual sweet spreads and fruit, even though I’d given notice, so that could be improved. The train station is a five-minute walk, with direct connections to the airport and central station. That’s handy for business travel, though for a private or leisure trip another area might suit better. My ratings were 8/10 for service, location, breakfast, cleanliness, room and facilities, and value for money; I paid €115 in November.
