Hotel Garni Frankfurt

We planned to stay after returning from holiday and, since we'd arrive in the evening, contacted the hotel beforehand as they had asked us to do about check-in. An unfriendly employee told us to contact them a second time about it, then abruptly said they close at 8 pm. That was the worst customer service in town. Avoid this place if you need flexible check-in, and probably avoid it altogether if you expect respectful communication.

For the price, it's hard to find a better or cheaper place in Frankfurt if all you need is a bed and shower. Towels and room service didn't come with extra charges, despite what someone else said. The heat was my main gripe: it was hotter inside than outside, though maybe that's just a Europe thing. WiFi was definitely not great, but mostly worked.

The owner was kind, a tall gentleman who speaks English. We stayed for seven days, and the room security was good, with no unauthorized entry. There were no bugs, but the Wi-Fi signal was weak. Cleaning and shower towels both cost extra. The trash wasn't emptied, the floor wasn't cleaned, and neither was the bathroom, including the hair in it. As long-term guests, we were unhappy about having to pay extra for cleaning and towels. It reminds me again how hard it is to find a good reason to stay in a cheap hotel.

The room we were first given was wrong, and the replacement was only okay, with many things broken or not working. The next morning, staff used a master key to let themselves in and out while we were there, without knocking or asking, and took pictures of the room with us inside. We were very uncomfortable. After our second night, the boss summoned us downstairs and, without apologizing, said we had to move immediately because it was costing them too much to keep us in that room. We were given five minutes to leave, even though we still had to pack everything. The new room was filthy, with black mold in the bathroom, fixtures coming off the walls, and loose electrical sockets. When we called the manager in, he said it was fine and told us not to worry, and that opening the door for five minutes would clear the mold smell. On departure day, we tried to check out at 7 am but couldn't find any staff, even though checkout was listed as 6 am to 1 pm. We left the key with the housekeeping lady so we wouldn't miss our train. The rooms' cleanliness and the lack of customer service and manners were absolutely disgusting.
