Trip Inn Hotel Minerva

The room stayed hot throughout our five-day visit because the air conditioner never worked. We had asked about it before booking and were told it was functioning. Staff brushed off our requests to fix it and just suggested opening the window, but the room had no airflow. I eventually had to raise my voice to get a room cooler, which came only after three days and barely worked. The cleaners also missed two days. On arrival, we found blood on the blankets and a disgusting bathroom; the manager was no help when we asked for cleaning, and reception did little to address our concerns. It was the most disappointing hotel stay I’ve had, and I felt they didn’t care about their guests. I strongly advise people not to stay here. The staff and manager were completely useless!

The room was clean and right next to the Flixbus station, which is why I picked the hotel. But I wouldn’t stay again. The mattresses sagged and need replacing, and the hallway lights came on only after you’d walked well beyond the elevator, then switched off quickly, leaving you in complete darkness. The location suited me, but the first welcome was so bad I would have cancelled if I could. I tried to be friendly, but there was no hospitality at all. Some staff could use a better sense of what customer service feels like for a traveller.

The hotel was dated, and the bathroom towels were stained and frayed, just as the picture suggested. The shower head was broken too. It’s near HBF, which is a good location, but that didn’t make up for the stay.

The worst part was the cigarette smell in the toilet, with cigarette butts on the roof just outside its window. There were cobwebs in the room and stains on the chair, while the TV had only a few channels and all were in German. The bedsheets were clean, breakfast was good, and the staff were quite friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves breakfast only, and the bar shown in some photos is no longer operating. I was there because Lufthansa kindly cancelled my flight and arranged lodging, so I’m not judging the value for money. The area didn’t feel ideal for wandering late in the evening, though the nearby train station was useful for picking up a sandwich, water, toothpaste, and similar things.
