Freiburg Appartements am Augustinerplatz

I paid very little by Freiburg standards, even though I booked just a week ahead. The apartment is spacious and has every comfort, but still feels like home. It’s on the third floor with no lift, so I wouldn’t suggest it for anyone with limited mobility; the stairs are well kept, though. At check-in they gave me a small bottle of wine and chocolates, and the staff were incredibly friendly. After that, you don’t see them, and checkout is easy: just leave the keys inside. There’s a real sense of freedom. The neighborhood of Fribourg is charming, with little shops and places for a proper meal or just a slice of cake. I’ll come back with my family!

The apartment is clean and spacious, with three bedrooms, a living room, one bathroom and a kitchen. It’s close to the center, and I recommend staying here. Getting in and out of the building and apartment was difficult each time; I think the doors need maintenance. You can hear outside noise even with the windows shut, although the street empties out after midnight. There’s also a water channel behind the building. If you open the third bedroom window, which is inside the living room, or the bathroom window, the rushing water is loud and annoying.

We were two adults with children aged six and eight, and spent four nights here. The beds were large and very comfortable, and the apartment had everything we needed: dishwasher, oven, microwave, washing machine and clothesline, free capsule coffee machine, iron and board, plus plenty of kitchen utensils. The location is right in the center, about a 10-minute walk from the train station. Communication with the owners was excellent, and checking in with a code was really convenient. We’d book it again.
