The owner was kind and quick to respond. When we accidentally left our key inside, he put a spare in a drop box so we could collect it when it suited us. His service was great, but the property itself had some serious problems. The bathroom smelled strongly like a public restroom, and the odor got into the towels. Leaving the window open all day didn’t help. They cleaned it, but it still smelled, so there may be a problem with the building. There are no ventilation fans anywhere in the hotel, just windows to open, and those have no insect screens. In summer the room gets very hot, with no air conditioning. It was hard to sleep, whether we kept the windows closed and dealt with the heat or opened them and let bugs in. They did give us a portable air conditioner, which helped, but we were on the ground floor and had to open the patio door, so bugs and pests could still get inside. The kitchen was another letdown. The utensils, kettle, and microwave were dirty, so we had to wash things ourselves. I got the microwave clean, but couldn’t get the white crust and rust off the kettle spout. They replaced it, but the new kettle was just as bad, so we didn’t use it. There was very little counter space, all the knives were dull, and there was no sharpener. We expected an induction cooktop, but it was an older heating-element type and took a long time to heat things. Boiling pasta was slow. The patio also felt awkwardly exposed. A gym across from it seemed to have men around all the time, and there was a road alongside it where a car pulled up and parked. In the end, this felt like a €30/night hotel, though we paid €100/night. Choosing this apartment hotel was a big mistake.
