Hotel Zum Schiff

We arrived to find a twin bed, even though we’d booked a room with one large and one small bed. When we asked to sort it out, the middle-aged woman at reception was incredibly rude and sarcastic. Her hostile, unprofessional response infuriated us, so we cancelled the booking right away. Save your money and stay somewhere guests are treated with respect.

We came here for a meal after finding the place by chance. We’d actually been looking for another hotel restaurant nearby with almost the same name, but we were glad we ended up here. The pepper sauce on my steak was the most delicious I’ve ever tasted, so unique and tasty that I couldn’t get enough. My partner had Maultaschen with Salad, and we ordered the special homemade red wine too.

The front desk staff were very polite and helpful, but the stay didn’t live up to the reviews. We were on the top, fifth floor, where the sloped room and bathroom ceilings took up a lot of usable space and made an already small room feel even smaller. The basement parking was tight and limited. Glad we had a small car, because an SUV or anything larger wouldn’t fit. The hotel was also far from the city center. Breakfast was a letdown: the selection was poor, and one woman was trying to serve a swarm of guests while basic items like bread kept running out. I felt bad for her, there were so many guests for one person to handle.

A very clean, modern hotel in a nice area. There’s underground parking if it isn’t full, and the restaurant inside serves delicious schnitzel. I’ll be back.
