Pension Tannenrausch

The only good points were the very fast internet and the friendly breakfast staff. Otherwise, Pension Tannenrausch was a complete disaster. The entrance door was broken, and an unpleasant smell hit us as soon as we came in. The room smelled awful too, the furnishings were very dated, and breakfast was basic. Absolutely not recommended.

Room 9 was quite basic, with a narrow bathroom, and the sagging bed and mattress were bad enough that we left a day early. We stayed at Tannenrausch for 6 days in May 2024, and not booking a comfort room turned out to be a mistake. The location is ideal for hiking, and the guest card is a great ticket for the forest railway and bus. One bright spot was the friendly breakfast attendant. If you check in by phone, be aware the owner has several properties and will ask, in a completely unprofessional tone, where you’re staying. He could simply list the properties he owns. If he doesn’t want guests, he should do something else.

The beds were okay, but we left early and weren’t offered any compensation for the price. Breakfast was meant to be from 8:00 to 10:00 AM, yet it arrived half an hour late and there was very little on offer, no sausage or rolls, just one kind of bread roll. We were disappointed with the accommodation and wouldn’t recommend it.

The breakfast spread was generous and tasty, and having it with a view of the greenery was a lovely start to the day. We’ve stayed with you again recently, and the familiar scent of the guesthouse greeted us as soon as we walked in. It wasn’t stale or unpleasant at all, quite the opposite, it made us feel at home. The room was spotless again, with crystal-clear windows despite being right in nature. The bathroom was very clean too. The shower cubicle is on the small side, but it has its charm and does the job perfectly for hikers 😊 We’ll definitely recommend you.
