Residenz Hopfensee

The apartment was cozy and clean, and the location right in front of the lake and the Alps was great. Service was excellent. I definitely plan to stay here again.

The view from the balcony, with the lake and mountains right there, is absolutely beautiful. We had a lake-view holiday apartment, homey and cozy, clean, and furnished in a Bavarian style that doesn't feel too old-fashioned. There are TVs in both the living room and bedroom, and you can have bread rolls delivered for breakfast. The two village shops deserve a mention for their wide range of groceries, and there are plenty of places to eat by the lake. Food prices seemed mid-range compared with some cities elsewhere in Germany, and for the excellent food and lakeside views, it felt almost like a bargain. Füssen is very close. If you're after wine, though, Lake Hopfensee may not have much of what you want. Beer reigns supreme! After all, it's called "HOPFEN am See" (Hops by the Lake) :). You can paddle a boat or try other water sports, and Lake Forggensee is next door if you want a bigger lake, with boat trips there too. The Austrian mountains are close by, and fantastic to reach by bike or car. Lake Hopfensee is an ideal base, though it's no longer a hidden gem. Here, the world is still a pretty good place! It felt like a Bavarian holiday at Grandma Christa's.
