Peffer & Salz Weinhotel

The Old Town is an easy walk away, though getting back means a bit of a hill, which could be tough for less fit people. The hotel is lovely, with green fields around it, and everything was very clean. There were flowers all through the town too.

The walk along the trail into the village was a lovely part of our stay. We also really liked the pared-back interior, and breakfast had plenty of high-quality choices, including ham, pastries, and fried eggs. Our room felt cosy and comfortable, and the reception staff were genuinely welcoming. Danke Schoen. We enjoyed it so much that we'd love to come back someday.

The room was missing some amenities when we first arrived, though reception can provide lots of things if you ask. The online guest guide, reached by scanning the QR code, explains what’s available. Our twin beds were a downside, and the pillows felt thin, but the room was well ventilated, with a great floor-to-ceiling window and balcony. The bathroom was large. We had a delicious three-course dinner, and the breakfast was cosy too. Try the alcohol-free prosecco at breakfast. The rooms are big with high ceilings, and the customer service was excellent, including in English. It’s a peaceful hotel and a perfect base for getting around the Black Forest by car or public transport. The free KONUS travel card even covers trips to Basel in Switzerland and almost to Strasbourg in France. We’ve recommended the place to everyone and will definitely return.

Dinner was very good, both the food and service, and booking ahead is recommended. We found the standard double room comfortable, with lovely views. During the warm weather we would have appreciated air conditioning. The town is an easy 15-minute walk away, and the stay was excellent value for money.
