We didn’t stay at the hotel, but we’ll definitely return to this restaurant when we’re in Glückstadt again. The food was delicious, as were the wine and beer they recommended. When we asked about the menu, the staff knew their stuff and answered with a bit of humor that we really enjoyed. They were warm and natural while still being respectful, and dogs are welcome. There’s a lovely atmosphere, plus a nice range of non-alcoholic drinks, including several sparkling water and fruit juice mixes instead of just the usual Coke or tonic. The menu is good, and the price matches the quality really well.

I stayed two nights in Gluckstadt for work after my company booked this hotel. It’s right in the center, with enough parking, and you can park free from 6 PM until 9 AM the next day. The staff were very friendly and everything was clean. The room was very warm, there was no air conditioning, the bathroom was small, and the toilet didn’t flush well. I ate at the restaurant both nights. The first evening I had a feuersteak, but it was covered in far too much sauce and the side salad was so wet that the whole dish became soggy. The next day’s pfifferlingen dinner, with salad, omelet, and dessert, was okay. Fine for two nights, but I wouldn’t want to stay much longer.

The matjes were absolutely delicious, and the wine was amazing. I loved the vintage decor too, it gives the place a special feeling of stepping into another century. Alles alles gute an der Familie, and long life to this great hotel 1617!!! I’ll definitely come back!

The breakfast room is huge, and the place has a quaint feel. A little odd that there’s no evening meal and the bar closes at 19:00.
