FREIgeist Göttingen Nordstadt - Design Hotels

Our room on the 5th floor was a good size, modern, and had a nice view over the city. We did have to keep the window shut because of the street noise outside the hotel.

We called the hotel and they offered us two rooms with a shared hallway for our family of five. That setup wasn’t bookable on the Marriott app, and it cost less than reserving two standard rooms there. The rooms were spacious, modern and well maintained. Breakfast wasn’t included with the platinum perks. It looked fabulous, but seemed pricey, especially since our kids might only eat cereal, so we got breakfast from the supermarket opposite instead. There’s free parking on some of the public roads around the hotel, so we didn’t pay for onsite parking. It’s about a 20-minute walk to the town centre.

This may be my new favourite hotel in Germany for value. In my opinion, it’s hard to find good places here that aren’t too expensive, but this one is definitely one of them. We only stayed one night and arrived early. During check-in, the friendly staff said we could have our room before noon, which was great. On weekends, breakfast runs from 7 AM to 2 PM, incredible! The room was spacious and comfortable, with modern design and a clean, great bathroom. My only complaint was that we had two separate beds pushed together, with small blankets, instead of one double bed. There was free coffee, tea and a bottle of water in the room. Breakfast was stunning, with loads of hot and cold choices, plus an à la carte menu with different coffees and dishes like eggs Benedict, avocado bread, falafel and shakshuka. The centre of Göttingen is walkable, about 1.5 km down the road. Highly recommend this hotel!
