We were the only guests at breakfast one morning in November, the slowest month for tourism, but there was still a generous, appealing buffet. The staff member looking after everything was exceptionally friendly. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean, and the owner, or at least who we assumed was the owner, greeted us warmly, showed us around, and explained what we needed to know. We'll definitely come back, and highly recommend the hotel.

The half-board meal wasn't for me. There was only one fixed menu, no choice, and it included pasta that I really didn't like. The room itself was tidy and clean, the staff very friendly, and breakfast was very good.

We were so glad to find a table at Hotel Waldpark after our New Year's Eve dinner plans in Bad Schandau fell through. We'd spent half an hour, two days beforehand, calling restaurant owners and anything remotely like a restaurant, and they were genuinely friendly as they told us there was no availability. What we found at the attached restaurant, Lilienstein, was far more than a last resort: a warm welcome, a great atmosphere, and an excellent menu that was small but delicious. Thanks so much for saving our New Year's Eve dinner. I'm reviewing the restaurant mainly, rather than the hotel itself.

Bad Schandau has the nearest shopping options, though there's a very good bakery in town. The hotel isn't responsible for the town's poor infrastructure and lack of shops, especially given all the holiday apartments. At the hotel, the staff were incredibly friendly and the personal service was excellent. It was clean and good value, with a delicious breakfast and a very tasty menu. The sauna and wellness area was lovely, but it wasn't very busy and needed to be reserved.

We arrived in January to a very friendly welcome, then found out we were the hotel's only guests. The hotel was unstaffed after 2 p.m., and the restaurant was closed that evening. They opened the wellness area once that evening when we asked. What a pity.
