We felt well looked after, and the rooms, breakfast, and service were all great. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is central and convenient, though the surrounding area can feel a bit shady at times. We appreciated the sensible policy of keeping the entrance locked. One day a local who seemed under the influence tried to sneak in, pretending to be a guest. We let him go first, and he had no key and didn’t know how to open the door. Overall, a positive stay.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, which is the main reason I’d still recommend this small, cozy hotel. It’s centrally located, but the neighborhood felt very intimidating after dark, with crowds of drug users and prostitutes. Our room was worn and dusty, and unbearably hot both day and night. Breakfast was pretty underwhelming apart from the scrambled eggs, though that seems standard in Germany. I also found a bit of mold in the jam.

The street can feel a little daunting, but people leave you alone. That seems to come with being so close to the main station. The hotel itself was clean and traditional in style, just a two-minute walk from Hamburg central station. Our room was massive, the bed really comfortable, and they provided free water. It’s stairs only, so keep that in mind if you have limited mobility. The booking information does say so. I’d absolutely stay again.

I only stayed because it was handy for the station. The room was fine and the service was fine, though I didn’t actually see anyone. There’s a keypad at the entrance, and the code was emailed when I booked; my room key was left in the door. The area is good for station access but felt very sinister at night. There were about 20 police opposite frisking suspected drug dealers, and it looked like a good place to buy Class A drugs.
