B&B Hotel Hamburg-Harburg

The power suddenly came back at 06:20 the next morning, lighting up the room and waking our whole family far earlier than planned. It threw off our schedule for the day. That followed a night with no electricity at all: no lights or working outlets. We tried calling the hotel without success, then emailed as soon as we arrived and opened a case with customer service. We still hadn't received any acknowledgment or response within a reasonable time. At reception, I explained what had happened. The receptionist looked unprofessional, spoke very little English, and said our email from the night before didn't exist, although I can prove we sent it. He was dismissive and nonchalant, then handed us a business card with the very email address we'd already written to. The outage and the way it was handled effectively ruined both our stay and our onward travel plans. This showed a complete lack of professionalism, accountability and basic service standards. Without exaggerating, it's one of the worst hotel experiences I've had.

The shower leaked and left some flooding in the bathroom, which was spotless otherwise. I also had to rearrange the beds a bit, since the single one felt like something from an army base. The room itself was nice and clean, and breakfast was better than I expected, with plenty of choice and fresh items. Booking in the app was very convenient. I was here on a business trip and had a good stay overall, so I'd come back.

I found the staff at the Hamburg-Harburg hotel especially helpful, really good customer service. The B&B hotels I've stayed in have all been in good locations. They're clean and fresh, with the basics covered, and the price doesn't suggest a luxury stay. The optional buffet breakfast has a good range of food, including gluten free choices.

The coffee was a big deal for me since I had long meetings right after breakfast, and it was good here. I liked the cereals and toppings too, and the breakfast had plenty of variety. The staff were all kind and helpful, and the room felt cozy and was clean. I usually pay close attention to hotel sheets and towels because they can be unclean, but everything at B&B HOTEL Hamburg-Harburg looked spotless and smelled nice. I really enjoyed staying here and would book again.
